Why do we write articles about software development?

To be completely honest, the SEO guys told us to put lots of content on our website to impress Google's search bots. Adding keyword rich content to our website, which included key phrases like ‘software development in New Zealand’ and ‘New Zealand software company’ pushes our website higher in search results.

The purpose written content supplied by an SEO company was a bit fluffy and provided nothing useful to a reader.

Writing articles forces me to take time away from daily PHP programming work to think about bigger picture stuff and share some of my professional experiences. I started working in the software industry in 1994 and have learnt a few things worth sharing in that time. And I can still drop key phrases like ‘php programmer’ and ‘software development company in Auckland’ to help Google promote our website.
